چکیده
A broader application of biocomposites still faces many challenges regarding structural integrity, environmental resistance, and biodegradability. These issues are particularly important when their marine applications considered. Therefore, this paper seeks to address the hygroscopicity, mechanical properties, biofouling resistance made epoxy resin with 28 m% bio-based carbon content reinforced flax hemp fibers. series experiments performed acquire water absorption rates, saturation limits, mass increase, tensile flexural interlaminar shear strength, impact gain due biofouling. All tests properties conducted before after immersion in seawater. The acquired limits flax/epoxy hemp/epoxy amount 7.5% 9.8%, respectively. uptake causes decrease by 26–74%, while strength increase for biocomposites. In addition, it is observed that almost all cases, has superior compared It expected research will motivate naval architects classification societies consider as prospective hull materials provide both integrity sustainability.

New biocomposites based on bioplastic flax fibers and biodegradable polymers.
A new generation of entirely biodegradable and bioactive composites with polylactic acid (PLA) or poly-ε-caprolactone (PCL) as the matrix and bioplastic flax fibers as reinforcement were analyzed. Bioplastic fibers contain polyhydroxybutyrate and were obtained from transgenic flax. Biochemical analysis of fibers revealed presence of several antioxidative compounds of hydrophilic (phenolics) and...

This study characterizes the acoustical behavior of natural fiber composites. Regenerated cellulose fibers (Lyocell), hemp fibers, and flax fibers were embedded in an epoxy-matrix. These unidirectional composites were tested for their logarithmic damping decrement, the resonance frequency, the ultrasound velocity, the dynamic and static modulus of elasticity, and bending strength and density. G...
متن کاملThermo-Mechanical Behaviour of Flax-Fibre Reinforced Epoxy Laminates for Industrial Applications
The present work describes the experimental mechanical characterisation of a natural flax fibre reinforced epoxy polymer composite. A commercial plain woven quasi-unidirectional flax fabric with spun-twisted yarns is employed in particular, as well as unidirectional composite panels manufactured with three techniques: hand-lay-up, vacuum bagging and resin infusion. The stiffness and strength be...

In current years composites have concerned considerable importance as a potential operational material. Low cost, light weights, high specific modulus, renewability, and biodegradability are the most basic & common attractive features of composites that make them useful for industrial applications. Luffacylindrical locally called as “sponge-gourd” is one such natural resource whose potential as...
